Self-study of the Chinese language – preparing a database

It’s no secret that the Chinese language is completely different; it does not resemble any European language. Therefore, experts believe that it would be right to first get to know him better.

If you have already collected a lot of materials on the study of the Chinese language then you must know that in the online course of Interesting Chinese language programs, there are two sections specifically for beginners – “introduction to the Chinese language” and “phonetic course.”

“Introduction to Chinese” – this is where you should begin to study all who are only acquainted with the language. It tells about the Chinese language, gives a general idea of hieroglyphics, that is, purely theoretical material that can help in understanding the general principles of the Chinese language.

“Phonetic course” is designed to get acquainted with the rules by which the Chinese language “sounds”.

  • First, there is an audio application, that is, the sound of absolutely all the syllables of the Chinese language, which the Chinese woman read for us. It is from these syllables, in different sequence and tonality, that Chinese words will subsequently be formed, which we will need to pronounce.
  • Secondly, it describes one of the most difficult topics in the Chinese language – tonality. The fact is that Chinese is a tonal language, and one word (or hieroglyph) can be pronounced differently. Depending on the tone, we can get absolutely two different words. Immediately I will say that the tones will have to be learned, there are no universal rules here.
  • Thirdly, the phonetic course tells about the peculiarities of pronunciation of Chinese words, as well as some rules of pronunciation.

Having carefully studied these blocks, you can gradually move on to learning the first lessons of the Chinese language on the website.

If you think that they give insufficient information on a particular issue, you can search for additional information or in Chinese textbooks (most of them also cover these topics at the very beginning), or on the Internet.

By the time you opt for second term of the course, you should already have some materials for learning the language from the previous session. You do not need a dictionary.

If you decide to study Chinese on your own, then you do not have much free time to attend courses or tutors, but a great desire to plan your lessons on your own and learn where and where you want.
